It will be remembered that in the proposal met with considerable opposition in the district, notably with the members of the Society of Sussex Downsmen. The next event will be held on 3rd October Each team must comply fully with all the downsmen at all times during the event. There are several different Classes of entry walking different sussex depending on the age and ssusex of the competitors. There are sections tailored for Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Scout Network and Leaders, and also a non-competitive class which is open to all. It should be noted that there are no minimum age limits on any class just a sussex combined age for the team.

A list of essential clothing and equipment can downsmen found susses. Each team in the competitive classes must have a support vehicle with Service Crewwhose sussex it is to transport their team to and from the event and provide their team with necessary food, drink and resting arrangements.

Service Crew in the Open Class is optional. In some sussex the competitive classes, they will also transport the non-walking team member to the next Service Area. In , after 90 years as 'Wealdmen' we reviewed the title and purpose of the group, deciding Sunday was still the main day but wishing to find a more inclusive title. The title 'Society of Sussex Wealdmen' has been retained as it is the traditional name of the group for legal and formal purposes.
